Painting
My work explores the intersection of historical and theological narratives with the natural world, particularly native plants. Through portraiture, I weave together figures—often friends—within historical contexts, interlacing them with native plant life to create layered visual narratives. I am interested in reimagining native plants not only as symbolic motifs but as active stylistic elements that shape composition and meaning. My work examines the role of desire in consumer culture and its impact on our relationship with the planet, using history and storytelling as tools to reflect on ecological and cultural entanglements. By merging personal, historical, and environmental themes, my practice seeks to create a dialogue about memory, place, and our evolving connection to the natural world.
